Fresno Quick Courses

New Media Quick Course
Friday-Saturday, Sept. 14-15

Students in the beginner course listen to teacher Don Wittekind.

The weekend started with a New Media course focusing on Flash animation and scripting, taught by Don Wittekind (UNC at Chapel Hill) and Scott Horner (South Florida Sun-Sentinel).

Never opened the program before? Not a problem – Wittekind’s crash-course beginner class focused on teaching the basics of storytelling and animation, and was sold out.

Scott Horner talks to students in the intermediate session.

For those who knew Flash basics and wanted to dive into Action Scripting, Horner’s intermediate session covered coding with a focus on reader interactivity.

Want to learn more? They’re repeating the class at SND Boston, but it’s already full. Stay tuned for more information.

Big ideas for small staffs – Joe Kieta of The Merced Sun-Star and Joe Tarica of The San Luis Obispo Tribune.

The power of teamwork – Shraddha Swaroop of The Virginian-Pilot (a much shorter version, full version coming)

Covering the big story – Jonathon Berlin and Kevin Wendt of the San Jose Mercury News
